Six steps to change your life

This may sound cheesier than a Swiss fondue, but everything starts with a thought. Everything... the chair you're sitting on as you read this, the device that you're reading it on, even you were just once a thought (or a twinkle in the eye) of somebody else... So why on earth do we not exercise our thinking ability to create an envirnoment and life that we truly want? Think of all the time in the gym (and away from fast food and pizza) we spend on creating a healthy, strong body. Why should our brain training be any different? First published by John C. Maxwell January 20, 2015, in Success Magazine Step 1: When you change your thinking, you change your beliefs. Change begins with the mind. Beliefs are nothing more than a byproduct of what you have thought about...

Well, below is a great 9-point list highlighting key points to concentrate on - and as with all great ideas or habits, it is not complicated. So get a piece of paper and get writing those top 20 relationships! Make a list of the top 20 relationships you want to evolve and invest in. 3 Tips I’m going to take in My Life Now

Published in Life hacks, Lifestyle

Identify where you are stuck in your life. Take steps toward getting unstuck, even if it means pushing well beyond your comfort zone. Action is the only remedy for fear. I heard a great analogy the other day, but don't know if it's true so bear with me. When cows see a storm coming (and think Midwest USA now, not rural England), they apparently try to outrun it, are too slow and as a consequence get an absolute soaking and pounding as they run with the path of the storm. A bull on the other hand (apparently) turns around and charges straight at the storm - result? Yes, a wet bull but he gets through the storm much more quickly. True or not, this analogy has helped me massively as I plan the rest of 2017 - a year in which a real foundation is going to be laid...

What my bear cubs are teaching me about eating & moving

Published in Food, Lifestyle

We've been blessed (and exhausted) by two gorgeous kids - one of each and both under three. They've arrived at just the right time to reignite a sense of playfulness and energy when I see a lot of guys my age succumb to a sedentary lifestyle and a growing waistline. Curiosity Our children are curious & optimistic nearly all the time; whilst I am conscious of keeping them safe and worldly-wise I am equally conscious not to make them jaded and cynical. Their levels of enthusiasm and energy (see below) seem boundless and doesn't respect our body clocks or wishes for a lie-in on weekends. But seeing them always seeing the best in a situation or other people is refreshing and something we can learn from - expect the best until you know otherwise. Movement Both...

Wheat-free Dunking Rusks

by Michael
There is something deeply spiritual about being up at dawn with a cup of hot coffee in one hand and a rusk in the other. For those of you without a South African affinity or heritage rusks are like biscotti on steroids - they're serious and not for the faint-hearted. And for those of you who already know about rusks, trust me, these are not Ouma se... But when I realised that wheat and refined sugar were not for me I consigned rusks to the list of foods I used to eat and wistfully stared at the boxes and jars in my friends' homes. Until that is, the lovely Donna from Eighty 20 Nutrition, published the following game-changing Rusk Recipe. The original article and more can be found on the wonderful Eighty 20 Nutrition website - please check out Donna's amazing...
